Hi

I'm looking for a 10gb network at home, but quite unsure about how the fiber work. If 2 pc is connected together with a 850nm or 1310nm laser sfp-plus module : Do we connect the fiber directly in between ?

Is there any chance of burning the receiver, by pushing a too high laser into it ?
Usually, for other gears, we need to put an attenuation pad.. like a -5db or so.. To be into the range of -4 to -25 dB at the rx end.
