This new game looks like it could be really, really good. If you're a fan of space combat games / sims or just Sci-Fi, check it out.

From the Website:
"An epic space sim where 100's of players wage war across a seamless, procedurally generated, true to scale solar system!

Infinity: Battlescape is a multiplayer space sim involving hundreds of players split across three competing corporations of the Starfold Confederacy fighting for control of a procedurally generated, true to scale solar system filled with planets, moons, asteroid belts, and other celestial phenomenon. Seamless planetary transitions will bring combat from deep space to the surface of alien worlds. The primary goal will be to destroy your enemies and their infrastructure through orbital bombardment from capital ships and/or an array of smaller spacecraft including bombers, interceptors, and corvettes".

Have to say, the kickstarter video was amazing in both visuals and audio fidelity, have to keep a watch on this one for sure. Hope they meet their goal. I want to play it.

It'll be interesting to see how the KS goes for these guys after Starfighter Inc. failed to reach its similar funding target, despite having no less a pedigree and far more modest goals than Star Citizen, which I suspect has fucked the market for new crowdfunded space shooters.

Anyway, I backed it, because why not. The sense of scale they've got going on, especially that reverse shot of the ship leaving the city (1:40 in the KS video), is awesome.

$20 for the finished game, not going to say no, it looks decent too, and the seamless transitions are nice

"100s of players"

"true to scale solar system"

..... sooo we are never going to see another living soul?

Meh, kickstarters? im done with kickstarters, unless i see a itemized list of where the money is going, i'm not investing a DIME.

I feel the same way. Carmageddon Reincarnation was the last one I did, took forever to get the game and I haven't even played it since it was "Completed".

If they made a Planetside 2 game wtih these graphics I would support it.

Eh, actually this game is basically Planetside 2 just all in space ships with the ability to obviously leave the planet. They actually said they got somewhere around 100v100 ships with bots working already.

The cool thing is they built this engine from the ground up to support procedural generation and large maps, similar to the Outerra engine. I feel like CIG wasted so much time having to jerry rig Cry Engine to handle large maps that it caused them to miss all those deadlines.

That is an accurate and relevant observation. Lets see where this goes.

How big of a map are we talking here?
If it's that big, then a few hundred players would seem like joining an empty server, no?

They were short 23 K:

And the KickStarter was garbage imho, so it's a miracle that they got as much as they did:

If Chris Roberts nails it with Star Citizen, then it will be a problem for other space sims but from what I've seen so far, it's not necessarily a given that he will nail it...

It's not so much that SC, if it ever achieves its goals, will be the only space shooter anyone ever needs, but more that its various dramas, delays, shifting focus, ongoing money grabs and jack-of-all-trades feature creep might make people wary of backing similar games.

Hey guys they only have 7 days left on their KS and are only 83% of the way there ($245,000 / $300,00). They actually just revamped their Kickstarter page over the weekend (looks a lot more professional now). It would be a shame for this great game not to get funded.

If I had to sum up the game, I would say they are working to recreate the huge epic space battles seen in popular movies and TV series such as Star Wars, Serenity, and Battlestar: Galactica. Imagine Planetside 2 not just on planets, but also seemlessly transitioning to space.

Scott Manley and Chris Roberts have since endorsed it this week, and I think CR 'might' be shown playing the prototype on RTV this week.

Honestly I know a lot of ppl here are wary of Kickstarters now, but this game is a lot further along with a working version already and the engine has been built from the ground up to support large amounts of players and space flight.

They just released a new combat montage and a new interview was released on 80 lvl:

And a new combat video:
