Hi,

I asked this in another thread, but no one responded.

I'm looking for an inexpensive color calibrator (less than $100 dollars) for an FP241W that I just ordered. I'm not a photoshop person, I just want movies and games to look really good. Any suggestions?

Thanks

The Huey. Its made by Pantone (the ones who have the basic color pallate for a LOT of companies, items) and is $89

I was going to buy it and it had really good reviews, but it does not work with dual screen setups  More a software issue I think cause you pay more and you get the ability to do that with some of their other models!

The huey corrects for lighting in the room changes as well which I guess works really well.

I've never used one of these things before.

Cant I just use it on one display, write down the settings, then do it for the other display? I thought I just enter the settings into my nVidia driver or something.

i have the spyder express. $70 at my local fry's.

did wonders for my benq FP241W :D

I wonder if the hardware identifies itself as the "Express" version, or if you can use better software with the express hardware.

Will the Spyder 2 Express help any LCD ? I just bought a 2407 and want to use one of these, but wonder if its worth the time ? Will I really notice an improvement over out of the box dafault settings ? Or is this and other like devices really only worth it on 92% color gamut LCDs,like the Nec 2690 ?

People have said that it helped their FP241W substantially, which is also a really great display.

No it doesn't and yes you can...they have software upgrades on the website but it's kind of expensive if you just want your monitor to look better. The other packages are mostly for graphics professionals.

I have an FP241W and have just bought a Spyder2Express, and I'm wondering whether it can be used to for calibration through the component input for use with gaming consoles, DVD players etc.

For that you need Spyder TV which uses the exact same colorimeter (I know because I have both) but different software and a dvd with test colors and patterns. I did find out later (after I already bought both Spyder TV and Spyder 2 express:rolleyes: ) that there are other software programs out there (burn your own dvd) that will work with the Spyder colorimeter. Sorry...I've never really investigated though since I already have both.
