Indexing Service!

i need help i'm running what u see below but the problem i have is that every time i open an mp3 my computer hangs. the window stops responding and the everything works after about 15-20 secs. I have fixed it before by turning off indexing in services but now its back and its disabled and stopped! i have no idea what to do i can't open my music without my folders freezing and long time delays, it should be instant especially with a raptor, any suggestions?

edit~it only works correctly when the other computer on the network is on, if off everything is slowed down. its amazingly annoying.

Do you have some kind of a shortcut in your mp3 folder that refers to your other computer?

It's also worth doing a chkdsk /f and a defrag.

no it does it for everything. i'll give u a better example. if i figured out that if i go in services and shutoff, workstation, computer browser, all things related to the network things respond to the way they used to. this still doesn't make much sense to me if i place them all started and in automatic why should i have to have the other computer on the network on in order for them to work properly, it just doesn't comprehend. so if i open an mp3 it opens in an instant if i don't have the other computer on the network on with the services started it'll take 15 to load and the explorer will freeze. no idea why, pretty crappy if u ask me.

Is it when you open them in windows explorer or play them indirectly with the player.

Try turning off "Simple File Sharing" in Tools>Folder Options>View> its at the bottom. I dunno if it will work but woth a shot.
Also try disabling the network and see if things work.

if u disable the network services it works fine i'll check out the simple file sharing though. just checked it out and its not it. i've narrowed it down to the workstation service in admin tools of windows xp. if that is started it slows everything down. its purpose is to "Used to connect local computer to remote computers. Examples may include local network connectivity and File and Print sharing. Many services depend on Workstation to be functioning. Leave it on automatic for safe configurations." so why would it screw up stuff on my computer so i can't open anything without a delay of 15sec.
