Trying to grasp Indesigns bleed function and getting a little confused.

I have a 30 page document 8.5 X 11 with a .125 bleed set.

The majority of pages have images I want right to the edge of the page. Does this mean I place the image right to the bleed quide or slightly past?

The printer wants pdf 300 dpi and my outputs look good but image from one facing page show on the opposing page. Is this normal and no problem since its not within the next pages bleed?

I can up a page if it will help.

Thank you.

You want the image to run off the edge of the page for a bleed, out to the bleed line (red) if the printer wants a 1/8" bleed.

If you export the PDF set to the default "Press" setting, you'll be ok for quality.

If you dont have the document set up as a book (automatic pagination), a photo on the inside edge of a facing page will need to be cropped to the edge of the sheet (does not count as part of a bleed).

This assumes you are not trying to do a spread from one page across a fold and to another. That can be a little more tricky in a multi-page book due to the way the sheets collate together.
