Increasing and Controlling Fan Speed ?!?

I want to install a nice 120mm fan in my qpack. What could I use (a physical switch) or something to control fan speed and increase it , far more than normal fan speed, like extreme cooling?
 
You have to apply higher voltage to get the fan to spin faster. You can do that however you'd like(switch or whatever you want). Perhaps you'd be better off getting a fan that moves more air than the one you have, then using a controller to slow it down if you want. It's easier to slow fans down than speed them up(with respect to the voltages available in a PC and fan controllers and such). Some people suggest using the -5V or even the -12V lines to increase the potential, but I wouldn't recommend that. But I don't know if I would consider a faster fan to necessarily be "extreme cooling". :p
 
Yeah, it would be better to get a more powerful fan that you can control than getting one to speed up. 120mm Delta with a fan controller FTW.
 
You can wire it between +5 and -12 which gives 17 volts, or between +3.3 and -12 which gives you 15.3 volts. But I agree with jpmkm, I wouldn't recommend it. If you do this, don't connect the 3rd wire if there is one (you can fry your speed monitor).
