In a laptop, is a P4 2.4ghz better or worse than a Centrieno 1.8ghz?

What is the rest of the system like, centrino will have better battery life, but that may not to matter to you.

Centrino isn't a chip.
Its a marketing term for a Pentium mobile +chipset +wireless +sticker.

A 1.8 mobile could easily stomp an older 2.4 533fsb Pentium 4. And get better battery life along the way.

Basically all a centrino is is, a very small thin, light mobile processser. The nice thing about them is that they have longer battery life as perviosly stated, and you also get a larger cache. Most likely a 2meg

Oh shit, ok, thanks.... damn, lol, i traded my desktop for a laptop with the P4 and a 30gig hd when i could have had a laptop with the P-M with 1.8ghz and a better video card, lol. Will the P4 2.4ghz run HL2, WoW, FFXI, FarCry and The Sims 2?

that depends on allot more than just the processer. What type of video card? how much ram? type of screen?

Both have 512megs of ram, both have a 15" screen, the one i missed out on has a 128 ATI Raidon 9600pro, mine has a 64meg ATI card, i forgot what kind. All im asking, can mine play those games with the stuff it has?

I have a Sony V505EX

Pentium Mobile 1.5 GHz
ATI Radeon 9200 Mobile (32mb)
512mb of RAM
60gb 4200rpm Harddrive

I can play Doom3 on high (800x600) with tweaking, and Half Life 2 at 1024x768.

thanks, but, i dont want to know how the games run on a P-M, i want to know how they would run on a P4 2.4ghz

I was going for a comparison of the video cards. Thats whats important for games now-a-days.

It's really hard to say. Perosnally, why don't you just try to put the game on. Or read the box for the system requirements and see if you have those.
