I haven't seen this posted yet. This hack really works. Look at the supported sound chipsets. I have a Dell XPS (m1710) and it sounds a hell of a lot better using this. Try it for yourself, and give some feedback.
It makes the sound a lot fuller, and gives you a surround sound experience through headphones on your laptop.
Hope this helps a bit for all of you laptop users like myself suffering from horrible sound.
