I've just got myself a pair of cm storm sirus 5.1 headset with the hope that i would be able to use my soundcard creative x-fi xtremegamer with it and get a good result in surround sound so i could locate sounds easy in gaming, but that was not the case.
Instead sounds from the front sounds pretty much exactly like sounds from the back, due to the speakers being the same and just 5 cm from eachother.
And stuff like creatives x-fi-cmss-3d gives better result than 5.1 since it "muffles/blur"
sound from behind. And i noticed that the suris software does the same, that it muffles the sound from the rear speakers(im not gonna use the software though, since it have buzzing noise when no audio is played.
So i wounder if there is somehow to improve the surround localisation while still using 5.1(since the overal sound is better with 5.1 from my test) and the x-fi xtremegamer soundcard, like using the same technique as cmss-3d for example. The only thing i found so far is making the rear speakers weaker, but then 5m from behind can be the same as 10m from front.
Thanks in advance
