My friend was going to get a 6600gt to go with a gig of ram and an amd 64 3200+ but at the last second he ran into a little money so he was able to buy an x800pro. After putting the pc together, installing windows, etc. I went and downloaded 3dmark05 and scored 4862 (that's a good score at stock I'm pretty certain?) Who really cares about 3dmark05, although the graphics are sort of fun to watch. He puts guildwars on his computer and it runs great at high settings, then Halflife 2 ran great (ATI cards tend to I guess) Battlefield 2 demo even ran fine on high settings. I usually don't like ATI mostly because of driver issues I've had in the past, and some cards not performing too well, but getting the performance he's getting for the price, it's pretty awesome....now I'm jealous of him :p

That's good for your friend. It's refreshing to hear someone not bashing ATI for once. Lately there has been alot of anti-ATI talk in here because of all of the G70/delayed R520 talk.

Lol, yeah, basically nVidia's had a recent run of luck with the 6800s out-perfoming ATi equivalent by a few fps and suddenly ATi's completely shit and everyone hates ATi omg. I'm just glad they released the XL, did themselves a favour with that beast.

Yea, only problem with A.T.I. is thier drivers don't like old games, or Emulated ones, but they do make good cards, especially Vivo cards, even though I still prefer Nvidia, also my first 3DMark 05 with Nvidia was like 3800 with a Geforce 6800GT, but after all thier driver improvements now it runs 5500 with no sweat.
