Just a little background, a friend of mine wants to put together a ultra cheap computer since his just died and needs this A.S.A.P. I've been struggling to match his budget becuase $350 is extremely tight for a complete system. Any advice on which direction to go is totally appreciated since this is giving me a bit of a headache! I tried going with a Athlon II X3 455 build, but trying to cram everything else into that budget while keeping the build respectable is such a daunting task and that is why I turned to [H]. So here's the skinny...
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Primarily for gaming. Nothing too serious, but relatively simple games like WoW and Counterstrike. A fair bit of multitasking in there such as having web browsers open, music player, chat program like AIM and such open while gaming.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Pretty strict budget of $350 total. He lives in Florida if that helps in avoiding tax.
3) Where do you live?
Florida.
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Most of the major components. He already has the peripherals, case and OS, so the things we need are...
Motherboard
CPU
RAM (Wants 4GB)
Hard Drive (At least 300GB)
WiFi Card
Video Card (Possibly integrated GPU?)
PSU

All that for $350...whew!
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
The only things he will be reusing are the peripherals like mouse, keyboard, monitor (19") and case.
6) Will you be overclocking?
Highly doubt it.
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
Pretty ancient 19" CRT.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
As soon as possible, within the week or so.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
Nothing fancy at all, just needs wireless internet. Other than that it's a very standard build with no frills. Just the bare basics listed above.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yes, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
