few problems with my newest computer running xp. 3 programs i use alot either stop responding right away or work for a while then stop responding. these programs are firefox ad-aware and spybot. firefox starts fine but then hangs for a while then works slow and finaly stops. spybot and ad-aware launch but stop responding right away. ive reinstalled windows once and reinstalled all 3 programs a few times. any ideas?

Try booting in safe mode and running ad-aware and spybot.

Also use AVG virus scanner if you don't have one (see my sig for a download link).

Do you have all windows updates?

adaware works now after I installed forgotten keyboard drivers. I thought firefox was working last night but now it isnt. spybot opens in safe mode and regular but it wont perform a system scan not even in safe mode. AVG turns up nothing.

Did you update and run ad-aware? Did it find anything? You could also try HijackThis - but it will tell you EVERYTHING thats on your system (its designed to do that) - so you don't want to clean off everything it shows you. If you want, download and run hijackthis, and tell it to save the information to a text file. Then copy/paste that stuff here and we can tell you whats safe to remove.

yes i updated and ran adaware all it found was tracking cookies which have een removed.
heres the hijack log file

You are totally spyware free it seems. Next try :).

Go download ccleaner from www.ccleaner.com. - Its a neat little utility to have anyway, and it'll clean out a bunch of garbage, for you, both in the registry and on your HD.

I would also reccomend un-installing firefox, deleting any residual files it leaves behind in the firefox directory, and installing from scratch.

Same with spybot.

I know you already re-installed, but not sure if you deleted the directories. Sometimes the uninstall doesn't get everything, stuff gets left behind, etc etc. I'm thinking maybe theres some firefox cache files or something that are screwing up the loading process. Uninstalling firefox and using ccleaner should eliminate that possibility.
