Implementing Systems Management Server

Does anyone know the best way to go about this? I have a legal (supply via work) copy of SMS. I plan on throwing it on Virtual PC and giving it a go.

Any basics I can read up on?? I've been Googling but nothing is really coming up so far. Basically we want to use SMS to push applications out to our office here, and also our four offices in the south.
