IMEI clean, activation ready, but shows outstanding balance online

Bought a tmobile note 8 from a 3rd party vendor. Phone works fine however,

1. Shows outstanding balance through the online tmobile IMEI checker

2. Called tmobile to have them check and they said the IMEI is clean, phone was never activated, has no financial obligations and has no link to any previous accounts.

Am I missing something? or am i just being paranoid?

Call TMobile again and figure it out, possibly the online system takes a few days to update. Or just keep using the phone and don’t worry about it.

I recently paid off my iPhone 7 Plus and the payment processing center told me it may take up to 72 hours to reflect that in their systems. Maybe try again in 2-3 days.
