My gaming system (sig) is doing something strange.....see if this makes sense to you....
I have 2 harddrives in the computer. Both on separate sata channels.
Channel 1 = 160 gig segate with windows 2k installed on it. This was done first.
Channel 2 = 80 gig maxtor with win xp 64 (pata drive with a sata converter)
I have sort of a "ghetto" dual boot going on. When I want to use win2k I change that drive to first in the harddrive boot order via the bios. And vice versa when I want to use xp 64.
I am having some periodic "hard locks" in windows xp64 while gaming where the computer completely freezes and requires a reset. Now when this happens, I reboot, and xp 64 freezes at the "welcome to windows" screen (hardlock)
At this point I reboot, hop into the bios and select the 2k installation as the first boot drive, so I can get in and fix the data on the win xp64 install. But the weird thing is, 2k wont boot after xp 64 hardlocks! Apparently its corrupting either the boot sector of the other drive or the registry file...because after getting the computer to a recovery console and chkdsk /fing the 2k drive, it boots right up!
How is this possible?
