I'm starting a doom 3 case mod. Would this look cool cut into my panel with neon of course glowing out of it.

The font is similar to the original doom text.
 
That looks a lot more like HL2 as the HL2 logo has the 2 as a superscript I believe. Look for a picture of the D3 logo and use that for the side panel. :)
 
I do not think it would look cool. If you want a cool looking doom3 case, you're going to have to hijack the style of the artwork from doom3 itself. Did you see that Half Life 2 case awhile back? Thats what you gotta do, is match it to the atmosphere of the game. The rusted metal, the yellow/black caution tape and the green water was brilliant. A good red paint with pentegrams and flames with red stone and jagged metal moulding would rock for a doom3 case.
 
I'd at leat use the real Doom font with some lava/molten rock effect behind it. Schnazzy!
 
I agree. I dont think you can get a better fan grill than that for this mod.
 
yeah you could, hide the functioning fans in the back, and in the visible area have metal fans moving at 20 rpm with a light behind them.........

Needs more creativity.............make a devil's head into a case. Pulling the horns turns it on or something.
 
Actually, i was gonna try the same thing you suggest. I'm waiting for Doom3 to come out though, so i could match the artwork.
i have a couple good ideas, for fangrills, mold a skull into the front, and some scene into the side.

Yeah I think the smallish character head on the doom grill is a bit diminutive---very nicely done though..Licensing must be REAL pricey on a product like that

Dude, no one is saying the guy doesn't have mad skillz, he does. But he still runs a business and the rules are the rules. If one slips in, so will others. Then we have a problem like we had in 2k2 with several of us were putting plugs in here for our respective companies. One of them was banned from the forums. No one wants to do anything about it because they are turning a blind eye to it. But how long do you think it will take before everyone slowly starts to do this stuff again? You may not be aware of how many vendors are here everyday, but there are many. Add to that the amount of rival review sites and you have well over 100 individuals that have something to do with the "modding" scene financially or otherwise.

Except he posted a link to an image not his main site. He didn't say Hey! you can buy this from me...... He just said and here's your fan grill. I think there is a difference between advertising a business and just posting a cool image. The image doesn't even have his own logo on it.
 
You read my mind matoch. I never said they are for sale. I have a picture of the part in the daytime sunlight now if anyone would like to see it you can PM me.

As for this thread that has become hijacked I would love to see a Doom3 case, I wish I could make one myself right now. If you want to use a grill like this in your mod gclg2000, just send me a PM i will send you a couple free of charge to use on your case, all I ask is to see a picture of the case when you get done with it.

This being text and not voice, I don't know if the comments on licensing are sarcasm or serious questions.
I agree with stresstest on the rules are rules and I have danced around and bent them now and in the past here, I will admit that anytime. Sometimes you have to bend the rules to get the job done. I started out posting my work here in the very begining because I though this site was to coolest and most informative of all of them, that was way before i made any money at modding. It seems the longer I stay the less I am welcome. In my days as a painter and sculptor I could never settle for second place, the same applies now. It is lonley at the top as they say.
So you may take your pop shots at me, I am used to it.
Thanks to all the people who like seeing the pictures I post and have supported us from the very begining. I am guessing there are a lot of you, my Ultimate fan grill thread has 17,000 views.

No ones pushing anyone around. He makes the shiznit, and I've spoken to him in the past when he first started about bringing his products in via email. I'm stating facts and before we get into another drama fest like we did here in 2k2, it would be wise to observe the rules. That's all I was saying. Now squeel like a pig for me shady ;)

And about the liscense fee's that Mashie was asking about, I'm curious what they are for those grills, Bonz. Does Id charge a lot?
 
Yah stress is always on top of his mod job. Rules should be enforced, i have said this before, but i will still try to bend them :)
We did not liscense the grills I just made them as a fan piece, they are not for sale. Doom changed my life as a gamer as it did for many people. I was gonna try and score some brownie points with id at QuakeCon with the grills maybe get a copy of doom3 or somthing.
