I'm trying to figure out how to OC these things, I'm kinda old school AMD so I'm real confused. I was thinking I'de see like 333mhz somewhere to change but all I see is;

FSB (QDR) Mhz 800
Actual FSB 800

Actual Mem 800
I have a e4300 and 2x1GB of DDR2 Firestix 6400 with a evga 650i. So lol I've gone over all these reviews, have the core 2 duo OCing pdf but this doesn't make sense to me?

fsb x multiplier = corespeed well I see the multiplier and thats about all I can make sense of here

There are a lot of threads on this. Look around just a bit and you'll find all the information you need in detail.
There are several things you need to disable, like EIST for example.

Not trying to be rude. :)

Go to the EVGA forums, and in the motherboard subforum there's a reasonably detailed and intelligible Ocing guide. The nVidia guide is... well, bad. Very bad. These are the same people that brought you nTune, which will tell you your GPU core can run at 1Ghz.... when they designed and built it. Keep that in mind. The first step in OCing is turning off all the 'helpful' features, like SLI memory recognition. The guide explains.

I'm looking at 2 guides neither say to disable Execute Disable Bit is that right?

If you do disable "Execute Bit Disable", you will also need to change the setting to "AlwaysOff" in the Windows Boot.ini or it will do it in software.

Alright so if I ran Linked, at 1:1 Linked of a FSB at 1333 my ram would be 1332. Or If I went to synced mode it would be 666.4 Do either of these make a difference and how? I really just dont get it. I'm used to seeing what my ram is I guess cause this way I have no idea. 1332 seems high is that okay for my ram? since it's DDR 800. (as you can see I haven't been OCing in awhile) My fav thing to OC was nforce 2 boards. I'm real confused.

The one EVGA guide I have said to run it in Linked/ Synced I figure maybe it makes it easier I dunno? Like in the [H] review they said they had to run linked.

So I'm confused about that I guess. Doing your method I'm looking at my bios I see
[unlinked]
FSB 800
MEM 800
So it shows FSB as 800 and Mem 400. How much should I adjust my memory too? This confuses me this 800 number I have Firestix DDR2 800 so *shrug* Then my fsb is there a certain number I should stick with or should I try to run 1:1 and what would that be? I guess I dont get how this 800 mem number relates to my ram.

So my ram I have no idea, but for my fsb I want to get to 3Ghz. I'm not going to push it really I'll be happy there so I'll put for 9x333 = 1333 into the FSB (QDR) box right?

and for my memory should I run it at 4-4-4-12 1T or 5-5-5-15 2T I dunno. What would you guys do?

For me, I have the Firestix too (although I'm speaking with an AM2 system), but the Firestix overclock pretty decently, but you'll need to run them 5-5-5-15 and 2T timing. But at the standard 2.1V they can overclock to about 450Mhz without a hiccup, maybe a little farther, don't remember. Unfortunately on my mobo I can't go from 2.1V to 2.2, it's only a jump to 2.4V, which is way too much, but I did experiment with that for a couple hours, the sticks scale really well, I had them above 520Mhz, maybe could have went further, not sure.

Anyways, I would think unless you stress test your ram to see exactly how far it can be pushed, just do the 5-5-5-15-2T and push the FSB up linked. You should be able to OC your E4300 a bit until you hit even the standard RAM speed of DDR2-800 I believe, right? Unfortunately I'm not a C2D clocker:confused: But I've read up enough on it ;)

Had someone pm me they helped a lot, I think it's the fact that OCing is easier now than what it was before and that made me think it was really complicated. *shrug* Overthinking things I guess, thanks for the help guys

Also what are safe NB/SB temps for this chipset? I keep searching on google but I'm not have much luck
