:(

I'm running all the proper switches, and I know they say you aren't GUARANTEED a gromacs, but still.

Does this just happen every once in a while, or is there some reason?

Please remember that this is for science. Stanford needs the tinkers worked on too.

It's not just for the points.:) You are still contributing to a great cause.:D

Fold on.... even if it might seem slower!

It does happen every now and then. It might just be a coincidence that you got it, or they might just be slipping in some Tinkers for us to work on. There might be others working on them as well, considering the lower point output lately.

I've got one currently as well.

Don't feel bad, my Dual 2600+ is working two of them right now :)

From what I could tell the tinkers started showing up again last Thrusday when stanford was having some server issues. I had a few machines sitting for over 12 hours with no work, then the tinkers started. Still getting a few...

This too shall pass

Along the lines of this thread - has anyone compared the ppdG on the tT with the regular Tinkers ?
(that's points per day per Ghz on the timeless Tinkers)

cool cool, just wanted to see if this was widespread or not.

thanks for the input

finally i just got done with a tinker...

it took so sosososos long to get done.

i got a gromac right after the tinker.

I've been getting Tinkers on and off since Thursday.
I've dropped from 900PPD to 700PPD. :(

Hopefully normal service will be resumed soon.

Luck.........:D

I've got 4 tinkers,

Anyone know why my P233mmx with 64mb ram would get a gromac and my Celeron 600mhz with 256mb ram would get a tinker? Or is it just luck?

How can you tell when you get a tinker? I've noticed that some WU's take forever to finish...

Look in your FAHlog file.

If it shown as.....
[11:34:20] Finished a frame (9)
Or similar then its a Tinker

If it shown as....
[13:33:33] Writing local files
[13:33:35] Completed 165000 out of 250000 steps (66)
Or similar then its a Gromac.

Luck............:D

Tinker, New Tinker, Gromacs, Double Gromacs, Genome.

As long as my farm is chewing on SOMETHING, I ain't complaining. It's when I'm idle with all this heat output that I get ticked. Like right now, with .119 and .120 not responding to work requests. :(

Fold On, brothers-in-arms! ( when you get 'em :D )

Tinker on AMD are now worth roughly double the PPW value of gromacs. Just look at EM3's calcuations and you'll see.

You should be rejoicing, not complaining.
I changed my flags from
-advmehtods -forcesse
to just
-forcesse

in order to reap the rewards of the new point values and AMD's superior FPU.

P4's should stick with -advmethods because the SSE2 units are a big boost in PPW now.
