• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

If I want to talk about anything having to do with real life? It's no wonder I do not participate in the forums. I check the site almost every few days for over 8 years and my first post in I-don't-even-know-when is locked. I understand why, but it's not my damn fault that I want to talk about real life instead of hardware/software... and have no place to do that.

I was given condescending advice about where I should post my sentiments. The thread could have at least been kindly moved to General Mayhem, considering that I can't access that forum. The condescending part is that I said I was aware of where it should go, and that I could not post it there.

So like I said, being burned like this with such a touchy subject really doesn't make me want to participate in the forums. Why does General Mayhem access have to be conditional to membership? I was planning on joining today even, but hell if I don't feel like I'm going back on my convictions by paying for it without this being addressed.

Is this country so far gone that people only care about each other when it suits their own needs first?

General Mayhem is pay only apparently to keep annoying people out (not you, I mean that just what I've read). It is only $15 to participate for 25 years so its not that expensive. Also nobody says you have to use this forum for real life stuff. Anandtech for one is a tech site with a great free real life section - so thats one thing to think about.

No offense, but 16 posts in 4.5 years, and post #17 is to complain that you can't discuss real-life "stuff" here? Are you not taking your meds or what?

How many forums exist on the Internet today where people discuss "stuff" and get nowhere by doing so.

Not meaning to be rude, but geezus... if you're looking for sympathy, then forget about this forum, and forget about ever joining General Mayhem and keeping this site alive by subscribing to it. If you do so, the first post you make in General Mayhem will most assuredly be torn to shreds based on the post above, and I'm not sure you could handle the rampage of opinions thrown your way.

Not sure you can handle this one, honestly. Go figure...

GM sub = asshole filter basically.

You need the balls of steel to even venture there ;)

I have rarely felt the need to participate in forums due to my limited time for socializing giving dominance to not sitting at a keyboard for very long. Now that I only work part of the time and my class load is more manageable, I felt the need to try and participate more in one of my favorite sites. I'm explaining this because I feel that I need to try and be more hospitable, as I have been very rough around the edges for a good part of my life. So, I will now address the contradictions of your point of view, Mr. Average:

I doubt you would understand the depth of my motivations, and it's inconsequential of you to touch on a subject you have no interest in, anyway.

My temperament too, serves no purpose by being called into attention, unless of course you harbor some ill will toward all people for whatever unnamed reason.

And if your somewhat nihilistic point of view is to be considered, you might think about first endearing yourself to your victim before attempting to criticize their life of which you know nothing. That way they may be tricked into caring about what you say before you drop the atom bomb on their fragile interpretations of life--actually hurting their feelings, that is.

Oh, and simply because you say you don't mean to be rude doesn't mean that it is subsequently permissible to be rude. This is a great insight into your character. Do you want to have other people possess that kind of power over you?

And as far as what I was looking for, it was not a response like this. I was simply looking for an explanation about why my post was simply locked instead of being moved to the correct forum, like every other forum does when the post is not out of line.

Thanks for your time.

PS I went ahead and subscribed for a year out of good will.
