I have an athlon 3700 64, with stock hsf, on an asus a8n5x mobo,

mobo is brand new athlon is used for 3 months.

I read that u can oc the 3700 to 2.5ghz from its stock 2.2 with stock hsf, i have no idea how, could anyone give me a walkthrough.

Not holding u liable etc:p

There's a great article on A64 overclocking stickied over in the AMD processors section. If you're looking for a basic overclock (like an extra 200-300 mhz) just search your bios for the FSB option. It should already be at 200. Try upping it to 210, saving and restarting. If you're stable, you can increase this (little by little) to a level you feel safe with. You might also need to increase your Vcore setting by a very small amount (like 0.05v - 0.10v) to get stable at the 2.5ghz setting. If you don't already know this, you need fairly good ram to run 30mhz higher than spec, and you're cpu temp is going to increase.

Once again, the guide says it waaay better than I ever could (actually I'm sure I could pull it off, but hell, why type it all out when one's already written ;) )

Follow this guide. It'll tell you what you need to know to reach a safe and stable OC.
