My setup

Intel P4 3.2c @ 16x201 Stock 3215.5 MHZ with 801.5 FSB
Volatage 1.536

Motherboard Gigabyte 8knxp.

4 case fans plus a 2 80 mm PSU Fans.

Idle as of now at 33.1 *C

6800GT GPU


I only want to to try overclocking and want to be able to leave it overclocked. I'm not looking for a big gain, maybe 200-300 mhz.

Also will the board run fine with 16x210 easy ? Will it hurt it?
 
keep a eye on temperatures.. but on a p4 its impoccible to damage it even doing that...voltage hurts cpus not fsb

naw.... go by 5's or 10's if your not patient.. when you find oen it doesnt work at step back til it does work..
hmm p4s are quad pumped... so .... goign by 5's would be adding just about 320 mhtz each.. cant do that too many times on stock voltage..nope nope
 
kinda ironic that your name has amdxp in it but your running a p4

multiplier on a p4 cannot be changed btw
 
get a nice cpu cooler... like that big round zalman one if you wana do a lot of overclocking... voltage makes heat for most part.. not clock speed.. pretty soon youll be wanting to do more voltage probably
 
One question in my bios is says clock control auto then when i chang eit to host i can change it and it says cpu freq 133 then i click on it and it goest blank i asume 133 is the minimum and 355 is the max like it says...
 
well it worked 16x209 speed is 3344 i did 16x205 and it jumped it to 206..

Is it safe to leave it at this speed?

Its idle at 35.... :D

go run some of your intense games and see if they freeze or crash. If not, leave it or go higher..
 
It ran good I put it back down temps went down to 30 now..

It was cool. :p

I know how to do it now when games get slow...


My FSB was 836...
 
good for a first one.. you need a better cpu cooler or need to use arctic silver to do better
