i'm confused

i just bought a Asus P5K-E/WIFI (newest bios 901) and a Q6600.

I can't get more than either 400FSB x 8multi = 3.2GHz

or

333FSB x 9multi = 3.0GHz

i tried going 350x9 and it doesn't matter what vcore voltage i set, it still crashes.. why can my FSB run at 400 with 8 multi but not even come close when set a default of 9.

my each core temps are in the high 40s under load with water

It's possible your Q6600 just can't go any higher.

Blame it on the board? I would. Assuming all other settings stay the same or are modified to keep the same values if neccessary.

aww man, hopefully it's the stupid bios or something, i read that the 703 bios that came with the board is the best. but now i'm screwed cause i didn't backup the bios before updating and stupid ASUS doesn't let me flash to an older bios.
