yay?

What are the riduculous idea in your head? :p I always like hearing new crazy way of doing things. lol

Welcome back :)

Right now I am doing a POC for my new place of employment, and with my containered environment I have already maxed out my laptop, and I haven't even built my Type 2 based mirrored SAN filers yet. I may be requesting a second laptop just to do dev on. It's honestly cheaper that way than building a box.

Laptop #1 specs (current):

ASUS G51Jx-A1
Intel Core i7 720QM mobile
4x2GB PC3-8500
Corsair X128 128GB SSD
Nvidia 360M 1GB
15.4" 1920x1080
DVD Dual Layer

Potential Machine #2:

ASUS G73JH-A1
Intel Core i7 720QM mobile
4x4GB PC3-8500
2x Corsair X128 128GB SSD
Radeon 5870M 1GB
17" 1920x1080
BD Reader / DVD Dual layer

Machine #1 running ESX1 and ESX2 VMs. Also running a handful of test VMs double nested on the ESX hosts.

Machine #2 running Server 2k8 management environment (AD, DNS, DHCP, RRAS, etc), and vCenter Server. Also running dual NetApp Filers that are actively full sync'd to eachother with each filer being logically split into two virtual filers, creating a mesh environment.

we're getting ready to start the planning for the next 5 years of where the IT is going, and I am making a heavy push to ditch Citrix... it is quite terrible.

Dont forget to install McAfee on those machines :)

God i hate them right now.

lol GenMay mode /off. whassamatta lopo, people driving you bonkers on the support lines?

Just got my second Dev laptop today: ASUS G73JH-A1

Intel Core i7 720QM
8GB of DDR3-1333
Removed Seagate Momentus 500GB, swapped for OCZ Agility 120GB
Removed Seagate Momentus 500GB #2, swapped for OCZ Solid 120GB
Radeon Mobility HD5870 1GB
17" 1080P
4x BD-R / 8x DVDRW combo

going to run 2x NetApp virtual Filers on this, and hook the ESX hosts running as VMs to it, do ful failover and sync for replication, etc.
