Just wanted to add some further info...
I had noted before that my e5-xeon rig did relatively better (based on TPF's listed in spreadsheet - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aspl6-RkaxtFdHdTdUdmUjhWalpXWVZ2S2xvejBDcHc#gid=0 ) on 8101's compared to 6900's.
I've noticed the exact same thing with IL. I know the speed of the IL FPU arrangement is quite dependent on the type of load applied (since it has its own scheduler). Perhaps there is something about the new 8101's that works better. It's interesting the same phenomenon occurs with the Xeons...shrug.
Anyway, some data:
I have 4x6282 with turbo on (base 2600, all core turbo 3000). On 8101's the cores run 2680-2720. On 6903's they run 2740-2770, on 6904's they run 2750-2800.
TPF's as a percentage of Patriots 4x6190's:
8101 : 105%
6901 : 119%
6903 : 118%
6904: 120%
It's the same pattern when I compare to other people's 6100 times (so I don't think it's the case of Patriot's machine throttling on 8101's, unless all 6100's have that problem...).
