I'm looking for a 8bit 20" panel (4:3, 1600x1200), and was considering the iiyama e511s-b2, as it is a *VA panel claiming 16,7mil colours. However, I just got this email from iiyama (names removed to preserve privacy):
> E511S-B2 is a 6 bit panel that display 16,7 million colours through
> dithering. The only display we sell with 10 bit is a 21,3" ProLite
> H2130.

I was wondering: the usual telltale sign of a 6bit panel was that screens were listed as having 16.2mil colours instead of 16.7mil. I guess manufacturers are just being sneaky now, or is something else up?
