^eMpTy^ said:What does the difference in APIs or the specifics have to do with anything? Atleast one source can show Nvidia beating ATi in Half Life 2. In my opinion that disspells the rumor that ATi will significantly outperform Nvidia in HL2. And that's all I'm trying to do, disspell a rumor.
^eMpTy^ said:But when have you ever seen a beta of a game not be indicative of final performance to the degree that it would have to be in order for HL2 to counter balance ATi's poor performance in Doom 3.
swoop56 said:BTW. I'm tired of the non released game benches. I'm sure some people care. But All I want is Lock on:Modern Air combat and Flight Simulator 2004. Can someone go ahead and give me scores for that?
Blackwind said:You are not "dispelling" anything....you are adding to rumor. There is no significant evidence to suggest that ATI won't own nVidia in Halflife........likewise there isnt anything to suggest they will. Why is it some people think they need to "educate" anyone here to begin with? There are far more capable person(s) here to do that.......
They run [H]ardOCP.
you kind of just supported the arument against you....there was nothing indicative in prior beta benches to suggest ATI would perform so poorly in final release....but it happened.
ICOM said:I love posts like this.
Its understandable the nV gang is riding pretty high since the release of the latest nV gear. After all, the nVidia guys have been getting their arses handed to them by the ATI guys for a long time now and even longer in terms of image quality.
Let the nV guys have a little daylight for now. Once the final software is released and the drivers are updated, well all know the truth.
rancor said:And where do you get this info from? I like it when people say "then" we will know the truth, because that means you absolutely don't know why the nV architecture is better then ATi's now.
Btw is ATi going to .11 microns for their next highend cards or R500? Answer this then ask youself why I asked this.
ICOM said:Huh
What lines are you reading between?
I only suggested we wait until the software is release before anybody goes around beating their chests. That's all...
^eMpTy^ said:Isn't it obvious?
I'm just out to educate the masses.
rancor said:Anwer my questions then, I doubt you can. In fact even if you do, then you will really be in a corner

Both are about as fast,
Dude I don't take ANYTHING personally, I'm just out to educate the masses.
arentol said:Just keep in mind that if 3Dc support is added to Doom 3 in a patch then there should be a 10 to 20 percent FPS improvement on x800's at "high" settings. Basically it should be the speed of medium settings with the visual quality of high settings.
rancor said:hehe, well this has been coming along time for ATi, they went to a fab process that they shouldn't have done so soon.
Jonsey said:^empty^,You have a daily post count average of around 45, with many being in the video card forum on 6800 threads. Many times, you post two or three times in a row before anyone else responds. No one spends that much time on a topic if they haven't taken it personally. I think you care more about 6800 GT's than just about anything.
OriginalReaper said:I thought the Half Life 2 beta ran in OpenGL, something about D3D not implemented yet. I, no wait, a friend remembers not being able to select the D3D path in the options.
Can anyone comment on this?

Ardrid said:Just a quick comment to those saying this performance may not be indicative of the final version. Has anyone ever considered that this is an actual beta? If Newell is to be believed that HL2 is about to be released, then they would of passed the beta stage quite some time ago.
