This new rig whips the pants off of the old one (as it should for the freaking cost!) :p

and you really can't understand what dual core users are talking about until you have tried one...

Really? It makes that a huge difference with a P4?

cooter, you better overclock that ;)

Eclipse,

There was a good reason for getting that Motherboard, i can't waste it by letting it sit at stock. :D

I am going to try to get Watercooling in a few weeks after it is up and running.

is anyone having problems running their memory at high speeds 1:1 with the X2? I know my 2X1GB Ballistix were stable at 260X10 with my 3700 San Diego, but i cant get my X2 (260X10) to be stable unless im running a divider. To try and compensate i have got the timings down to 2.5-3-2-8 but its still not the same as 3-3-3-8 @260. I have tried 1T and 2T at 260, both flunk out of LargeFFT and SuperPi flunks within a few minutes. Any suggestions?

Interesting. My ballistix ran at DDR540 with a venice but lately i cant get it to run fast on my X2.

so its not just me!

I have a Venice lying around, but im too lazy to mess with it. Once my Venus comes in, I'll definately test my ballistix with it.

Athlon64 X2 4400+ @ 2.6ghz
Abit A8N Ultra
Leadtek 7800GTX
OCZ PC4000 Gold Edition (2x1GB)
Antec NeoPower 480
Thermaltake Tsunami
Swiftech H20-120 Rev3

X2 4800+
CM Hyper 480 cooler (1500rpm, 52c at full 100% load across both cores with AS5!)
2GB OCZ PC3200 (CAS3 stuff, I run stock)
A8N-SLI Premium
2 BFG 7800+ in SLI
3 Raptors in RAID0, 1 Maxtor 250 w/16mb for storage

Using onboard sound until the 64mb x-fi comes out.

My machine isn't up and running yet, but have gone with;

X2 4600
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Mobo
ATI X850XT 256Mb PCIe-16 graphics card (bit silly, for a SLI mobo, but I got it cheap and I don't need dual graphics cards)
ThermalTake Xaser III V2000A case
2 x 200Gb Seagate IDE HDD
Enermax 701AX All-In-One 600W PSU

The only thing I am waiting on (and as yet, still undecided on), is RAM. It'll either be Kingston KVR400X64C3AK2 (2Gb) or OCZ OCZ4002048PFDC-K (2Gb).

Either way, this is a far superior machine, to my Intel PII-350 (with 64Mb RAM and 2x18Gb HDDs), which is struggling with Win 98 (first edition). Hence, I don't think I need to worry about overclocking to notice a difference in performance...

3800+ X2
1GB Corsair pc3200C2PT (needed something cheap)
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
eVGA 7800 GT
WD Raptor 73gb
NEC 3540A & 2510A
Samsung 191T
Antec 400W psu

Shuttle SN95G5 Rev 2,0 (nForce3 Ultra 250 GB)
4200+ X2
1 GB Corsair TWINX Cass 2 (2x512 MB)
6800GT AGP
250 GB WD
NEC 3520
+ some other stuff

The X-fi for me was mainly for surround sound in 2 channel headphones. I have the Zalman's as you can see in my sig, but with the 2 channel surround sound enabled, it sounds WAY better then it does on the zalmans, which actually have 6 channels. Other then this, the 24 bit crystalizer when in gaming mode should be changed to say, the 24bit distortion creator. The sound distorts terrible when there is any bass at all. Turn it off and it sounds as good as the audigy 2, however I think the surround sound with 5.1 speakers sounds better then the audigy 2, less channel separation when you spin around with a static sound next to you, it fades very well from each speakers to the next.

oh and BF2 does not need 2GB, I call BS. Playing on non ranked servers with good ping with 1gb RAM, even on my old (heh, old) s754 3000+, with 1GB it was fine (as in, smooth) and that was with a X800pro

Have you tried running 1600x1200 4xAA 8xAF? I run that, except 1680x1050, the extra GB makes a huge difference.
