and I decided to setup a new motherboard/CPU, is it just plug/play to get the array going?

I'm trying to avoid using the chipset's RAID feature since I won't be able to easily migrate it from one to the other like AMD to Intel but unsure if I'm moving from/to the same manufacturer. just a newer/different chipset (e.g. X67 to X99 or 970FX to 990FX).

Thanks!

It was plug and play for me when I upgraded from a P45 platform to a z87 system. I had to make sure to enable RAID in the new motherboard bios though.

In both cases you might hit driver problems, so your solution isn't really one.

Assuming you're talking about your system drives or course.

why would I hit driver problems when in most instances Windows doesn't need additional drivers to support built-in SATA ports from AMD/Intel chipsets?
