Hey my buddy down the hall is having a hell of a time with Internet Explorer. He opens it, it loads his home page, then you hear a click like he clicked a link. He gets an error message saying there is a problem blah blah blah and IE closes. This happens every time. I *THINK* he uses IE 6 and when I dl the ie6 setup file from ms's webpage with netscape and run it, it says he already has a newer version and won't install. Got any ideas?

Dell d800 laptop
winxp
ie6
plenty of computer to run it.

Thanks guys.

Does he have all Windows Updates? If he has SP1, he should be able to remove IE altogether, and then maybe he can run the setup to install it again.

I have to wonder why I see so many people having trouble with IE. I have never had a problem with IE. It works flawlessley, all of the time (for me). I've tried Firebird, Opera, Mozila, and I always go back to IE.

what happens if you change the homepage?
try "about:blank" (no http or anything, that's it, it'll give you a nice crisp white..)

he should have sp1, i don't know what the deal is either. I'll try to change the homepage but i don't think it will work.
