Hey everyone....I hope someone can help me with my problem. Sometimes when I am either browsing the web or filling out an online form my browser will close when I hit ok or next. This actually happens in AOL also so I'm not sure exactly what is going on! I hope someone does! Anyways I am using Windows XP home.

Thanks!
Cody

hmm...thats possible....I just found out that while trying to install IE sp1 it is crashing when trying to download the files....that is crazy.

Ok so I am not able to do windows update either. After I can for updates and go to review them IE just closes! Any ideas? Please help!

I have been looking into that. The link you posted would be very helpful but I can't spare any money right now to sign up for it...I guess I will keep looking.

Schadenfroh-those pages do seem to use javascript.....what do you think could be going on there?

When trying to update IE SP1 it gets about 1/3 done and then quits. Any ideas guys?

ok, lets see what your browser has going on with it. run Hijackthis , click scan, then save log, then copy and paste the log that is displayed in notepad into this thread. Do not fix anything with hijackthis till we see its log. this does not sound like a hijack to me, but might be something running that is causing it.

I doubt that this will fix your problem, but its worth a shot,

1. Uninstall Weather Bug, MySearch, and real player from Add/Remove programs (if they are there). Reboot if requested.

2. Create a folder on your desktop named hijackthis and extract hijackthis into that folder (hijackthis creates backups which are placed in the folder that hijackthis is in)

3. Reboot into Safe Mode

4. Double click hijackthis.exe

5. Close all webrowsers/windows explorer windows

6. put a check mark next the the following entries and hit fix. (if you use Pribi, then ignore the ones that have Pribi at the end, i do not know what this program is, if you dont either, then remove it)
O2 - BHO: My Search BHO - {014DA6C1-189F-421a-88CD-07CFE51CFF10} -
C:\Program Files\MySearch\bar\1.bin\S4BAR.DLL (file missing)

O3 - Toolbar: My &Search Bar - {014DA6C9-189F-421a-88CD-07CFE51CFF10}
- C:\Program Files\MySearch\bar\1.bin\S4BAR.DLL (file missing)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [\Pribi.exe] C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Pribi \Pribi.exe
O9 - Extra button: Real.com - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} -
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Shdocvw.dll
O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52}

7. delete the following directories, C:\Program Files\MySearch\ and C:\PROGRA~1\AWS\

If you need the functiality of weatherbug but without the spyware, get the weather channel's Desktop Weather.

haha.....yeah now I see that. Just got caught up in the fact they said sign up to see the solution so I didn't go down any further :)

Ok everyone just found out something new. I ran all the fixes that I could think of but it still happens when I submit something or try to run windows update and click on review updates....BUT I found that EVERYTHING works ok when I run safe mode so it must be something that is installed, right? For the life of me I can't figure this out!

haha...yeah don't get to upset. Its actually a computer I built for mom and she likes AOL.....so thats what she gets. We have DSL but she just likes the program. I have tried SO hard to get her to stop using it but she won't do it.
