First off, I'm not sure if this is where i should have posted this, but seeing how it relates to and amd processor socket i figured i might be okay here.

Second, this is my friends computer and i do not have access to it at this time.

Third, motherboard beeps 2 short 1 long on startup with no video post, took out ram and video card and motherboard still beeps the same code. Bad mobo?
 
well, looks like 775 but to be sure, what does it say on top of the IHS?

we were going to buy a replacement motherboard, i was in a rush when i left and all i took was this picture.
i had a suspicion it was Intel too, after looking online at different amd sockets, 939, 940, am2 and am3 and seeing nothing similar.

now about the computer...?
 
Since you post hardly any real information I'll have to mind read you for a bit. Give me few moments and I'll answer your questions.

In the mean time you can post the maker and the model of the computer for someone who doesn't have mind reading abilities like me can google the specs for you.
 
That might be an AMD server chip if your sure its AMD....what does the IPC ?

you may be able to read minds, but at least brush up on your reading skills, i dont have access to the computer, luckily my friend answered his phone...
 
That is definatly not an AM2 chip......on the AMD side it can only be a server CPU
 
hmm, ill have to go and look at it again; shit, it's all the way across town.

That sure looks like a 775 chip, look at the notch locations and the SMc layout in the center. it's definitely not a Sempron

Are you sure your HP hasn't had the mobo replaced once already?

Aso are you sure you don't have HP m7660be? It would be odd, but that was a 775 system with an e6600. the oddity would be it's listed as sold in Belgium.

It is socket 775, scratched off the thermal paste and it is a core 2 duo.
weird how the website says its an AM2

anyways, any thoughts on the error code?
i'm fairly certain its a bad mobo. (but again, i was also certain it was an amd...)

You say 2 short and 1 long? Sure it's not 1 long and two short?

1 long, 2 short is generally a video hardware error. No clue what 2 short , 1 long would be.

Taking out the Video Card will also return a video error I believe, try swapping in another video card if available.
 
the error starts with the two shorts and then one long.
i will try that asap and get back to you.
 
2 shorts would possibly signify a post error, then 1 long would then mean a failure to find video at all as opposed to a video adapter failure, if he has another pci-e slot, try moving the card over to it.
