I have a couple of older computers that I want to find some ideas for as far as what to do with them. I would love to turn one of them into a wireless router...I realize this isn't really cost effective, but I already have the stuff, and just want to learn.
As far as the computers...both of them would definitely run Windows XP, and one of them runs Windows 7 pretty good. I have heard about some type of OS (ClearOS???) that I can load to turn one of them into a wireless router. This is not for a corporate environment...so at most, I will have two ethernet and two wireless devices used. One of the wireless, and one of the ethernet devices are hardly ever used.
I have a two USB Wireless Dongles, and an extra NIC I can put in one of the machines. Is there a PC version of DD-WRT? Tomato? I also have a small hard drive that I can use. Thanks.
