I'm due for a new rig in a few months and after everything I've read about EyeFinity gaming I'm pretty sure that I'm going to spring for a triple monitor setup. Like most of us I'm not made of cash though so I'm trying to figure out the smartest way to build a capable, triple monitor gaming system without breaking the bank.

One thing I've considered but would like some feedback on is the idea of having a higher quality center display with two lower cost (but still same physical size) monitors on either side. There are some obvious drawbacks, but I'm wondering if anyone can comment on this idea that has actually tried it... If you have, I'd really appreciate some insight into your experiences with it.

In general however, I'm looking for displays that are greater than 22" in size, but remain under $1,000 for all 3... any ideas on how to get under or at least pretty close to that goal would be greatly appreciated.

What resolution are those 27" Sceptres? I'm thinking that anything more than 1900x1200 might be too much since I'm probably only going to be able to afford a single GPU for now... might go with the 5870 EyeFinity 6 edition since I'd like to actually put a 4th display above the primary (center) in order to keep a desktop window open while I game too.

No I hear what you're saying and I don't tend to care that much about having a super small dot pitch either. I'll have to swing by Costco and look at those Sceptres in person though... that would be a hell of a lot of screen for only $270 each.

Oh I almost forgot... I bet they aren't display port are they? :(

Nope, I just checked... but it does have HDMI... Does anyone know if you can use a mini displayport to HDMI cable and have it work with EyeFinity? I know there were some weird requirements for the displayport to DVI adapters.
