Instead of selling people LCD's with dead pixels and having to deal with return after return, I think it'd be a good idea if these manufacturers would record the # of dead pixels during their testing process. Then they could sell each based on a scaled pricing system where you can be guaranteed to buy a 100% working pixel display at a price premium (hopefully only slightly higher then current pricing) then offer small discounts on batches with certain #'s of dead pixels.. Like $20 off for 1-3 DP's, $40 off for 4-6 DP's.. Yeah I guess that'll never happen though, seems like it would be great for the consumer since then you could spend a little extra to know for fact that you could get a perfect display without having to go through the hassle of returning the thing 15 times. Ahh well, only in a perfect world right :p
 
This would add cost to all monitors because they have to test them. Combine that with the fact that with monitors like this price is paramount to getting the sale most of the time, I doubt any manufacturers would go thorugh the hassle.

I like the idea though, maby if a good reseller tested them. That way only enthusiasts etc monitors would be tested ahead of time, etc.

keep in mind that some pixels may die during shipping, and if you order a no bad pixel monitor, and it arives with 2, then what happens? do you send it back, do you simply get a refund based on the price bracket?

i think regardless, issues will occur.

Well, I went under the assumption that the dead pixels were due to the current limitations in the manufacturing process of the display itself moreso than damage during shipping. Anyway, it was just a thought for discussion, not that it'll ever happen :p
