IDE vs. SATA

If i have a hard drive thats 7200 rpm, 8mb cache, and IDE... Will i see any performance increase if i switch to a 7200 rpm, 8mb cache drive but with a Serial ATA connection or does the IDE not really restrict performance on a drive like that. Its only an 80mb drive if that matters.

well theoretically, a SATA cable/drive can handle faster speeds. havent really looked into it so i dont really know
sata drives are easier to setup becasue of the tiny little sata cable whereas the IDE drive have that humongous ide cable
so if your going to get a new HDD then go for sata ( if your motherboard supports it)

1 7200rpm serial ata 150
1 7200 serial ata 3.0
1 10,000rpm raptor drive.

the raptor drive i can see a difference
and to tell you the truth i see no difference between the other 3 drives. but then again those drives are filled with documents, mp3s, dvix movies and what not.

yeah, my motherboard supports it but what i want to know is if it is worth the upgrade at all since the specs are generally the same except for the cable.

nah dude you wont see a huge difference from upgrading. and this is coming from me who has all 4 different drives and use them on a daily basis. unless youre like a supper anal person who wants the best of the best you will not see any difference (again in my opinion).
