looking at all the current motherboards for the core 2 duo i found that they have only one ide connecter... >.<. almost all my stuff are ide/pata connections, all 3 but one hard drive are ide's and my both my dvd-rws are ides. is there anyway i could salvage these for my new build or do i have to use all satas now?

you may want to take a look at the 975x platform as i know my asus p5w-dh deluxe has 2 IDE connectors

Or you can go quite a bit cheaper ;)
The Syba is definitely cheaper but the reviews seem to show a lot of people having troubles with it.

I've used the Promise card on older computers and have been able to boot from it without any problems. It's fast and reliable.

I don't mind spending a few more bucks for a quality product.
