Hello.
I got one of those cheapie ide raid controllers.
I have four (4) 40 GB seagate barracudas in stripe 0 set.
I was expecting some good performance.
However all the benchmarks I run report that the stripe set is slower than my single segate ide 120GB 8mb cache HDD.
I mean... I know that 40 gb on it own would be much slower, and I did expected seek time to be slower than for the single drive, BUT I was expecting four disks to be significantly faster than single disk in reading/writing large files (like iso's and divx)
I was wondering whether what type (chipset) of raid controller i get will affect overall performance performance. I did expected the cheap one to be slower than the expensive ones, but this is pathetic !!!
i was not able to find any comparacment rewiev on the web. Couls someone share with me sone info on the topic ???
thanks in advance.
