Okay, I have a pair of WD800JBs laying around and I was going to try to put them in a raid-0 array for fun/backup. When I plugged them in to see if they work, I ran into several issues. First of all on one of them, if I try to copy a file from one of them the computer restarts. On the other one I ran HDtach (with the other drive disconnected) and it registered a whopping 6mb/s peak trasfer and 91% cpu utilization. The motherboard is a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum. Any ideas would be appreciated. All of my other drives are SATA and are working well. (except of the 20ms access time from my Maxline III)

Edit: I have tried a new cable and I have tried the jumpers in CS and in Master and Slave configurations.

First try them on another machine to rule out your system. If they're still messing up, get rid of them - either by RMA or by giving it to your local sanitation engineers.
 
Ok, now there are new problems. My Raptor is now very slow. I noticed that Windows was now booting much slower. I ran HD tach and my raptor now has an average read of 15.4 mb/s, down from 65mb/s yesterday. The CPU utiIization went from zero to 85%. I don't have another system with SATA, but I did try swapping cables and ports. Any ideas?

Edit: Looked at the other dying Raptor thread and am going to run WD tools after I finish the backup.

Edit 2: Ran both quick and complete diagnostics and both passed. Motherboard or controller issue?

Edit 3: Fixed, for some reason, that device switched to PIO mode. Working fine now in DMA.
