IDE HD dissapears?

Hello, i just put in an IDE HD as a backup drive for my box along with the SATA drive i already have and the only problem i encountered is that when i boot up the computer, the drive shows up in My Computer, but then later on, i'll check it, and its gone. When i restart, it shows up again but then dissapears after a while. Pretty weird eh?
