i put a new mobo/proc/ram/SATA drive in my dads computer for him.

the old drives are running on the IDE. The bios shows the drive and reads the correct size on them, but windows does not show them as a drive and in the disk manager, they both show up with no drive letters assigned and the drives show up having 19gigs of used space, 19 gigs of unused space and the rest of the space shows as unallocated which i KNOW is incorrect. the drives were functioning correctly on the old mobo just prior to the replacment. but uh..not sure exactly whats goin on here.

Never ran into this before... ideas? lemme know if you need a screenshot

<edit>
sorry... they are showing up as having a 19.4gb partition on them with 100% free space and the rest of the disk shows up as unallocated.

so i booted of a ubuntu disk and it says that it cant mount those drives and gives me an error that the volume may not have a valid NTFS volume.

tossed it in another machine and the exact same thing as above happened.

any ideas anyone?

See if you can right click and do "Import Foreign Volume" or something, within Disk Management.
