okay my msi k8t master2 far. server motherboard

somehow i get this wierd error that there is no 80 conductor install in my ide's.

i don't know what that is but sometimes when i boot up the computer it loads up all the way and then gives me the pxe rom error and asks me to boot from cd and takes me several tries to get the OS up and running. anyone have any ideas to whats going on with this?

thanks for whoever responds and gives suggestions they are very helpful.

Old IDE cables had 40 pins, the newer ones have 80 pins.
Use an 80 pin cable and the error will go away.

Oh, were you always getting this error? I assumed it was a new error and no hardware had changed. If you added a HDD that needed an ATA66/100/133 cable but used an ATA33 cable, then yes, your problem lies with the cable. ATA33 cables are 40-pin/40-wire cables. ATA66/100/133 are 40-pin/80-wire cables.

If you already had that cable and are just now seeing this error, either the controller is going bad or the cable is going bad.
