Is it ok if you reverse your IDE cable? Use the master connector to the board and boardconnector to the master drive? Because my CD Writer is on top of my case and IDE drive at the bottom. Its not long enough if i use it in right way. And also, are cable select will still be working? Sorry for a noob Q I dont want to mess anything.

I recommend against cable select, though, most people don't have any issues using it. I have seen them pop up several times in the last month on the forum and setting master/slave solved those issues. Your milage will definately vary on that.

Also, doesn't matter what way you plug in your IDE cable as long as it's connected correctly for all drives and it will let you do it.

If you are going to reverse the IDE cable then you probably cannot use cable select.
There is a one wire difference between the master and slave connectors.
Not sure which connector is short one but to be on the safe side set you drives up Master & Slave.
Luck.......:D
