I have an older Biostar Geforce-6100-m9 board.

I have one SATA hard drive and one SATA dvd drive.

My bios has the following items:

IDE DMA TRANSFER ACCESS
IDE PREFETCH MODE
EXTENDED IDE DRIVE
IDE HDD BLOCK MODE

Will changing any of these affect the performance on my SATA drives?

Please post if you know for sure. Thanks.

They shouldn't as far as I know, in fact you should be able to disable your IDE controller competely and who knows, those options might grey out or disappear.

On my P965 / 975X / & P31 Motherboards - i disable the IDE controlers since I don't use them.

Usually is for disable the IDE control, the other sub-options will gray out.

It "should not" affect any of your SATA drives

If you check device manager, IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, NVIDIA nForce 430/410 Serial ATA Controller, right click > properties, you will find your drives listed under Primary and Secondary. Use the speed test to see if any changes to these settings will affect your particular setup.

I have those same options except for the Extended IDE drive, where a setting SATA controller enable/disable is listed instead. If you set yours to disable or off, and the SATA drives no longer show up, then that is the 'controller' option with a different name. Otherwise, use the speed test to determine impact if it's something else

For me...
Block Mode - no change enabled or disabled
Prefetch - no change
DMA - no change

That's for a SATA2 HDD on my Biostar Tforce, which is nearly identical to an M9.
