IDE and SATA at the same time? help!!

gots a bad problem dudes...i have a 120 gig stat drive, but the OS is effed up on it...but i have nearly 100 gig of data on it. cant loose it..and odnt worry, lots of partitions, but still, need info on it.. basically it had my OS on it,
now i have a different HD a 40 gig IDE..

i want to use the OS on the 40 gig to access the info on the 120 gig SATA drive...how the hell do you get both of them to work at the same time, without using the 120 gigs OS?

btw, i have an Asus P4C800 deluxe mobo, if you didntknotice my sig
 
Try setting the first boot device to that IDE hard drive. In all honesty though, the data might not be perfectly recoverable with different partitions because that OS would be different from the one that was located on your SATA hard drive. That's a very weird problem indeed though. What exactly is the problem for the OS on the SATA drive? Perhaps that's a simple problem to fix?

it may just be a simple fix on here, but i was so sick of it that i ordered a 64cpu and mobo yesterday.,. i'm getting Stop Error D1, ive done everything
i dont have any AV crap, i'm using the same drivers that i have been for the past few months if not years, i dont upgrade alot of the hardware, and yet i'm still getting random stop errors

at first it was just restarting it self spontaneously, untill i discovered a setting in the Control panel to give me a full memory dump and actually display the error. when i figured out how to read the memory dump and i did the analysis fuction on it, i was getting some crap about the NTOSKRL crap, so i formatted and nothing changed. i even stopped using my own driver disks, and downloaded them from the maufactureres websites...so rulled out the virus situation. i even bought a new HD, the 120 gig sata stated before, and still same thing...
the weird thing is, that its random, so it may happen every 5 mins, for hours, or it would dissapear for 3 or 4 weeks....then the error would suddenly reappear with no warning. i didnt install any new drivers, didnt do anything at all that might have triggered something...

help? :confused:
