I have a question. I want to turn the PCI-e slot 90 degrees. Now the way PCI-e works is that it has pins inside on the sides which will touch the golden stripes on your GPU card or whatever you're using. And those pins lead to the lanes on the motherboard.

The main question here is. Is the length at which the pins are connected of importance? Would it not work correctly if one would be longer then the other?
Has anyone done this before?
Has anyone seen anything about it on the internetz, something like a guide or something?
Anyone know where I can get PCI-e slots other then from my motherboards? Ya know, just in case.

Thanks in advance!

You mean have the card in the same parallel plane as the mobo? There are off-the-shelf risers that you can buy for that. Just google "pci-e riser"...

I've considered those but I'm not sure if that'll fit. It can't be higher then 15mm. So that's from the bottom of the motherboard till the top of the extension in the PCI-e slot. The side plugged to the GPU isn't that important. It's the motherboard part.
