So now that the 1080 Ti is out, I'm probably going to replace my 980 Tis and I decided it's time to
dump Surround and buy a single monitor.

My inclination is to get one of the Samsung 40-46 inch slightly curved TVs the JS 9000 family I think.

My desk would better accommodate a 40 inch but that's not really the point.

Is this still the standard go-to TV/monitor or is there something better out there.

Thanks.

Ok......might I ask why????

Time is not critical, probably looking at fall anyway.

New models coming out Q2 supposedly. Also there has been a rumor that 4k@100Hz is to come out 2017 but that rumor has never been officially admitted by any manufacturer as far as I know. You might want to look at Samsung KS series as they are the newer models and considered pretty good and gotten a lot of attention lately. Also check out the Sony 830 and 850D series as they too have been talked about a lot too here at HF. There is also a Philips model too I believe some have tried that works pretty good. Forget the model number. Anyway read through the threads here and see what is different/new.

I'd recommend waiting just a bit more on that ;).

He's building something... Interesting.

Oh that's right. I forgot he was doing that. I wonder if he's doing it for the Samsung KS series? A KS8000 or a KS9000 that does 120Hz @4k sure would get me to finally jump onto the 4k band wagon.
