my desktop icons have shadows underneath them, whcih, coupled with a white background looks absolutely retarded. How can I get rid of it? I can't seem to change icon text color in appearances either to anything but white.
Open System Properties in Control Panel, choose the Advanced tab, and click Settings in the Performance section. Turn off the Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop option, and click Ok.
