what is the throughput limit of the ICH south bridge for software raid? And what would the performance hit be given my current setup? Can my Q9550 (stock or OC'd) handle it?

I'm in a gradual transition to Linux as my main desktop and plan on using mdadm for software raid. I will be buying an SSD as well for my main boot drive and a set of 8 drives in RAID10. My case has 6 3.5" inch drive bays + 3 more from a 5.25" to 3.5" drive bay converter I'm purchasing as well.

Suggestions? Comments?
