Icelake tapes out.

Huge news. 2018 launch is looking likely now. The canned Cannon Lake-S part was supposed to be an 8-core CPU, so don't be surprised if we get mainstream 8-core parts from Intel with Ice Lake-S.

Man I hate Intel naming scheme. All these lakes. I wish they just called everything with one name and a number and upgraded that number.
Their naming make everything more confusing for me.

That's exactly what they do. i7 2600 -> i7 3770 -> i7 4770 -> i7 6700 -> i7 7700 etc are the official product names. The 'bridges, 'wells' and 'lakes' are internal code names given to developing products or technologies that haven't officially been announced or haven't received an official name yet.

AMD uses Caribbean islands and star systems. They used industrial construction equipment on their CPUs for a while, along with a river and a nature reservation.

Nvidia uses famous physicists.

Intel uses... Lakes and bridges, I guess.
