Well, we just lost power for about 20 minutes due to a raging ice/snow storm. Long enough for all but one of my UPS to run out of juice. Back online again though.

I just get killed with the heat around here.
Most ice I get is a couple of frost bitten plants.

Welcome to the convection oven!

Thanks xENo!!!

We need to hit up Vapochill for a mass purchase deal......if only... ;)

I was born in Tucson, so I understand.

We get ice storms pretty regularly where I live. I went to college in the mountains north of here and we got them monthly during the winter. Tonight in Dixie we are supposed to be in the low 20's. Heat still isn't fixed so I guess i will push the clocks up to keep me warm

I have been in this weather for long enough that I prefer the temps around 80 degrees!
All that ice would probably kill me!!!

It is a lot drier in Tucson than in Pheonix (at least it was 24 years ago when I left).

Some of my best friends have red necks ;)

I started watering the lawn today, record high of 68F, normally it is May before I have to do that. the temps in the computer room are in the High 80's

I turned the heat off to the house last weekend and may have to hook up the AC by the weekend so that the heat doesn't effect the boxen, already have fans blowing the air out of that room to keep the rest of the house warm.

It will be crazy to have to use AC in March, we usually have snow storms and heavy rain this time of year, come August we are going to be hurting for water.

Might have to get a bigger AC unit if it keeps this up, never owned one till the farm started growing and heat became an issue.

CAUSE WE AIN'T TURNING DOWN THE O/C ON THE BOXEN, and need four more to fill the room to max. :D

My feelings go out to you from a breezy Tampa, Florida :p

Same here from sunny, warm (although occasionally rainy) Southern California :p

Well, at least I haven't had to worry about mud slides. I was in Port Hueneme CA (NW of LA) when they were having all the flooding and mudslide problems in January.

Yeah, that was kinda crazy. It sucked when they closed the 101 freeway between Santa Barbara and Ventura (I'm from Ventura but go to school in SB), but my apartment was fine as was my parents' house. It was just kind of annoying that it rained for about two weeks straight. Although a week after it rained, a huge west swell came in and we got some good surf along with some good conditions. Looks like the waves are going to be huge tomorrow and Thursday too.

You got stuck with the worst time to visit around here. This fall was pretty nice and the spring should be nice too, but we've just had so much rain this winter. BTW, I know a few guys that work at the base (I assume that's where you were).

I know! I'm excited! BTW, it was great having you and p[H]ant0m to compete against for this contest (and LPerry).

Still a lot dryer here in Tucson than Phoenix. Sure its bigger, and a little has changed, but its still the same old boring Tucson its always been.

Dude, that 8 feet of water was AWESOME! I was actually quite tempted to head out and see if I could go swimming and/or start a little fishtank before they got everything cleaned out. I would love to see the faces of the workers when they got everything cleared out and had a couple of mackerel flopping around :p
Also, I was watching the mudslides and landslides, and for the most part (I.E. the people that had their houses built on steep hillsides and didn't expect this to happen, or ripped up all the terrain cover and deep-root plants that prevent this kind of stuff) I chuckled as long as no life was lost.

Ahhh you guys really have me yearning for a single day of normal weather. I am really getting tired of this schizophrenic Indiana weather. Just this past Sunday I was wearing shorts, with my apartment wide open letting in fresh air, and this morning they are saying the words snow, and wind chill. And Schmave we'll get ya at some point! ;)

Unfortunatly the one guy lost his whole family. He went out for ice cream and came back and his house was buried. That was rough.

Schmave - Yeah, I was at the base. I lived there 1997 - 1999.

I know how you feel. It was in the 50's here on Sunday and yesterday it fell to 26. :(
I'm gonna catch pneumonia and die.

Heheh, that's a pretty good temp change there. It's been like that all winter here in Indy, but the last few days have been real good, Sunday was 65 and sunny with a light breeze, this morning when I got up it was 19 with a wind chill of like 5 above. I see your pneumonia, and raise you one case of hypothermia!

Ever see the movie "The Deep?" (I think that was the one.... little glowing aliens in the ocean)
You can live for a while after you've drowned and been nailed by hypothermia. ;)

No, hurricanes suck. Ice storms blow. Have you got your weather mixed up again?

The benefit of living here is in the winter we get ice storms north of the fall line, in the spring/summer massive thunderstorms and tornadoes, late summer/fall the hurricanes that trek up from Florida or up through the gulf, and then we have a few weeks off in late october-early november. And just for fun every 10-20 years an earthquake for good measure. Last one of those was 3 years ago maybe. Love this place....

It's really nice today here in Fort Worth. Or at least it was an hour ago when I got to work.

I lived in Phoenix for a while, and I spent some time at Fort Huachuca. My brother lives in Tempe, going to ASU. I've always liked visiting Arizona, but I don't know if I could stand being there in the summer again.
